Visual FoxPro
A manufacturing client could not locate his source code. I used ReFox XII
to decompile (reverse engineer) the source code from their active EXE file, which
was compiled with Visual FoxPro 6.0. Archived data for two of their
sites and rebuilt the indexes. Exported the archived data from related tables to
Microsoft Excel. Discovered corruption in the main table. Awaiting approval to repair
the data corruption.
Another manufacturing client required a system to record hardware, labor, materials,
and mark-up, and present a quote to his clients. Designed system with 12 tables and
9 forms using Visual FoxPro 9.0. Client is able to retain all quotes
presented to his clients, as well as alter cost values through maintenance forms
and tables.
Have developed FoxPro/Visual FoxPro software for many clients since 1990.
I learned about Fox Software's FoxPro 1.02 for DOS back in 1990 when
I was serving in the Navy Reserves at CBC Port Hueneme (SeaBees). One of the
enlisted men was using it to develop applications for our reserve unit. I saw what it
could do and that it could compile into an EXE file, just like Clipper did, and
I said to myself, "I've got to get that!" By the time I bought it, it was already
FoxPro version 2.0. I began using FoxPro at Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, California.
